The UW-Parkside 2007 Student Showcase requested posters to promote their event on campus. The purpose of the showcase is to highlight student achievements in volunteering, the arts, sciences, and civic engagement. To emphasize the classic liberal arts nature of the event, and inspired by the Grecian costumes from a recent production by the theatre department, I chose to suggest the intellectualism & philosophical idealism of the Classical & Neo-Classical eras by borrowing some of their common motifs—in particular the columns in the background and the border at the top & bottom. All the individuals highlighted on the poster were students.
There were two sets of posters, all using the same four images and the same high-impact orange & blue color scheme. The first, with blue background & orange figures was to encourage students to submit their work for the event, while the second was to remind people to come to the show. I maintained equity through a virtually identical layout & color scheme, but made them clearly distinct by swapping the foreground & background colors.
